I’m a retired law enforcement Ofc and I spent 33 yrs working at the local and state level. I am appalled at the negative narrative that has and is being blasted out how “bad” cops are and how cops should be defunded ect.
I stumbled upon Abby’s podcast awhile back and listened to her interviews about the real stories behind cops and what they do. She does a fantastic job telling the behind the scenes stories about officers, their experiences and what the job is REALLY like and how it impacts the their lives. Her voice is refreshing and carries far more weight because she isn’t in law enforcement so her takes and viewpoints are unbiased.
Hearing the stories of current and retired officers stories has been therapeutic to me at times and I’m sure it is for many others. When I started my career in 1990, mental health in law enforcement wasn’t a thing. We were taught to keep things in, push forward and get the job done which isn’t the healthiest. I still have residual effects from learning that coping style so hearing her interviews allows me to explore my own traumas and work thru them or at the very least acknowledge that they exist.
So keep up the good work Abby and THANK YOU for what you do in support of those who plan to be, currently are or retired from the best job in the world, law enforcement!
